You can
start an hour long circular walk in
front of TIC Vrhnika, continue towards the springs of the Ljubljanica and walk
towards Retovje.
Retovje is a slightly hidden valley in the wooded
foothills of the Raskovec Hill and the Ljubljana Peak. It was formed by a
gradual collapse of cave roofs. In this valley lie the springs of the Big
Ljubljanica, which joins the Little Ljubljanica from Močilnik and Verd. From here
on the river is called Ljubljanica. There are number of springs in the
valley: Pod skalco, Pod Orehom, Malo Okence and Veliko Okence. In the 19th
century there were more than ten water powered sawmills here.
Continue
towards Verd, but don't overlook the Miklič Granary and Kotnik-Lenarčič park. Cross the
Ljubljanica and continue this lovely walk back to the city center of Vrhnika.
